186 It is the Superior that convokes the General Council and she
presides over it. All the members have to take part in the
meetings of the General Council. Even when one of the
Councillors is not able to be present for an absolutely
unavoidable reason, the General Council may have its
meeting.
187 The Superior General appoints one of the Councillors as
council secretary. It is her duty to record clearly and
comprehensively all the discussions and decisions in the
Report Book and submit it for the approval of the Council.
188 When the office of a General Councillor falls vacant for a
period of one year or less, a new councillor need not be
elected; otherwise, the General Council elects another sister
as councillor for the rest of the term.

General Finance Officer
189 The Councillor in charge of the Finance Department will
also be the General Finance Officer. The Assistant Superior
General may not hold the office of the General Finance
Officer. The General Finance Officer manages and transacts

the financial affairs of the Institute as per the Common Law
and our Constitutions, with efficiency, responsibility,
transparency and accountability to the General Council. 26
Auditor General
190 The duty of the Auditor General is to audit in time the
accounts of the Generalate, institutions under the Generalate
and the houses and to submit her report to General Council
through the Finance Officer.

Secretary General
191 The Secretary General is in charge of the common archives of
the Generalate. She makes the official correspondences as per
