Rights and Duties
173 In administrative matters the Superior General shall respect
the rights and authority of her Councillors and other
superiors. Nonetheless, the Superior General has the
authority to directly involve and take decisions in all
circumstances and in every sphere under her power.
174 The Superior General may, in consultation with her Council,
ascribe or transfer any sister to any of our houses, as need be.
175 The religious life, common discipline, formation, continuing
formation and spiritual renewal are under the immediate
responsibility of the Superior General. In consultation with
her Council and with the cooperation of all concerned the
Superior General has to see to it that all that is needed for
the effective discharge of these duties are properly planned
and effectively executed.
176 As the common head of all the Departments, the Superior
General, while providing all helps and suggestions so that
the activities of the departments are made effective, has to
co-ordinate their activities with effectiveness.
177 The Superior General visits canonically all the local
communities at least twice during the term of her office.
This may be done through her delegates also. In

extraordinary circumstances, the Superior General may
make a canonical visitation of any of our houses at any
time.
178 The Superior General should have a disposition of obedience
and readiness to consult with the Archeparch. She shall
submit him a comprehensive report of the Community once
in three years.
179 If for more than one year the office of the Superior General
becomes vacant before the expiry of her term of office, or
she has become unable to carry out her duties, a General
