167 The Councillors carry out the responsibility of the four
departments as specified in our Directory.
168 From among the elected councillors the General Synaxis elects
one as the Assistant Superior General by simple majority.
169 The Councillors shall be sisters possessing prudence,
knowledge and spirituality and especially endowed with
experience and expertise in matters related to the departments
of which they are secretaries.
The Appointment of the Auditor General and Secretary
General
170 The Superior General with the consent of her Council
appoints the Auditor General and Secretary General.
The Dissolution of the General Synaxis
171 The General Synaxis shall be dissolved by the Superior General
after it has transacted the business for which it was convoked.
Administration: General Level
Superior General
172 The Superior General is the highest superior within the
Institute and she officially represents it. She must be person
thinking in unison with the Church and the Congregation; a
person possessing the spirit of love, administrative ability
and willingness to listen to others. She has to have utmost
care to lead the community into holiness, into the apostolic

services in conformity with the charism of the Institute and
to keep the Community united in mutual love and fraternity. 19
She has received the grace and mandate from God, the
Church and the Community to preserve the Institute as a
symbol of Godís praise and glory and a channel of the
apostolate of Mercy. She accomplishes this with the help
and cooperation of her Councillors and in conformity with
our Constitutions and the directives of the higher superiors.
