The number of ex-officio members shall not exceed one-
third of the total members of the General Synaxis. All the
outgoing ex-officio members retain their membership till the
General Synaxis has been dissolved.
Elected Delegates
147 Only the finally professed sisters have passive voice in the
election of the delegates to the Synaxis.
148 Only the finally professed sisters have active voice in the
election of the delegates to the General Synaxis.
149 The previous General Synaxis decides the number of the
delegates to be elected to the next General Synaxis and the
mode of their election, in accordance with the directions
given in the Directory.
150 In case a member of the General Synaxis is incapacitated for
valid reason to attend in the General Synaxis, the Superior
General should be informed of the matter in writing and
permission for absence should be obtained. It is up to the
Superior General to accept the resignation of a member. A
permanent vacancy shall be filled up from the substitution
list, by selecting the names in the order.
151 Synaxis Members shall be persons having the spirit of the
Institute, capable of expressing their opinion after responsible
deliberation, in a manner conducive to Godís glory, the good
of the Congregation, the effective discharge of our apostolic
services and the promotion of love, unity and co-operation
in the Community and having the power to keep secrecy.
Norms to be Kept in the Elections
152 Elections are made by secret voting, in writing. However, in
very common and relatively unimportant matters voice vote
may be sufficient, by the consensus of the Synaxis. The
number of votes secured by a member may not be divulged
to outsiders. No one may canvas, directly or indirectly, in
