members of the community with responsibilities proper to

St. Joseph: A Sublime Model of Religious Authority
137 St. Joseph is a worthy and imitable model of religious
authority and superiors. With faith and humility he submitted
himself to the will of God made known from above; he kept
the holy family in pleasing acceptance both of God and His
People, by leading it in mutual love and prayer; he preserved
and protected the community entrusted to him by God,
making it a channel and resort of Godís redemptive, merciful
love to be transmitted to the world.
Our Superiors
138 As the Supreme authority of our Religious Institute, we all
are bound to obey the Roman Pontiff in virtue of our vow of
obedience. As an Archeparchial Congregation of the
Archeparchy of Kottayam, we are subordinate to the
Archeparch as per the Common Law of our Church.
ß1 The highest internal authority within the Congregation is
vested in the General Synaxis. Ordinarily, this power is
exercised by the Superior General with her Council. The
Superior General, and in her absence the Assistant Superior
General, is the Major Superior of the Institute.
ß2 Our legitimate superiors are the Superior General, and
the Assistant Superior General in the absence of the former,
and the local superior.
ß3 The General Synaxis and the superiors have administrative
authority in the internal matters of the Institute as per the
Common Law and our Constitutions.
