favour of herself or others. After the starting of the General
Synaxis, though members may mutually exchange their
views informally as to who are the sisters fit for different
offices, it should not in any way influence the elections to
be made in the Synaxis.
153 Unless otherwise stated, the elections and decisions of the
Synaxis require an absolute majority (half+1)
154 For the validity of the election and acts of the Synaxis at
least two-thirds of the members should be present.
155 Only a subsequent General Synaxis can change the acts of
a General Synaxis. However, in particular circumstances,
if any correction or modification were found necessary to
be made, with the approval of the Archeparch, the Superior
General in Council may do so.
156 Any modification to be made in the Constitution requires
the approval of the Archeparch, with the recommendation
of the General Synaxis by a two-thirds majority.
157 All the acts of the General Synaxis are subject to the
approval of the Archeparch.
158 After the approval of the Archeparch, the acts of the General
Synaxis become effective upon the official promulgation
by the Superior General.
159 It is the Archeparch that gives authentic interpretation
of the Constitutions. When a particular provision is not
clear, the Superior General with the consent of her
Council may, according to the nature of the matter, give
a practical directive regarding it, adjoining the condition
that ìIt will be subject to the interpretation of the
Archeparch/General Synaxisî.
The Election of the Superior General
160 Under the presidentship of the Archeparch or his delegate
the General Synaxis elects the Superior General according
to the norms. 72
