The Local Community
195 The local community is the basic unit that makes visible to
the People of God the spirit and fraternity of the Religious
Institute and keeps its apostolic services intact. The Superior
General with the consent of her Council may start new local
communities, taking into account the needs of the Church
and the local people and evaluating the possibilities for

Superior General in writing. To suppress a house, consultation
with Archeparch, consent of the General Council and the
written permission of the Superior General are required.

196 Local Superior is the authority within the local community
and its official representative. She is to give example,
inspiration and leadership to the sisters in the life of prayer,
mutual love and fraternity. She has to attend to the spiritual,

mental and physical well-being of the members, make the
sisters involved in taking decisions, co-ordinate the different
apostolic activities and find out ways of conducting them
effectively through the decentralization of powers. As the
right to take final decision belongs to the superior, sisters
have to reverently acknowledge that the superior has the
right of the taken decisions being respected.
197 The Superior General in consultation with her Council
appoints the local superiors. They must be sisters having
completed 3 years after their final profession. Their term of
office is for 3 years. They may be appointed for one more
term. Nobody shall be a local superior for more than 6 years
