CHAPTER V
OUR APOSTOLIC SERVICES
ìI do it all for the sake of the Gospel, so that I may share
in its blessingsî (1Cor.9:22)
A Synopsis of our Apostolic Mission
80 Religious communities are sent and commissioned by the
2
1
Church, so that they may belong to God the Father and
participate in the life and actions of Christ so as to lead the
world to the Father by offering it His redemptive, merciful
love. In founding the St. Josephís religious Congregation,
Poothathil Thommiachan, our revered Founding Father, has
succinctly handed over to us the following apostolic mission:
ß1 God the Father has called us through His Son Jesus, so
that we may belong to Him totally by living a life of sanctity
5
and holiness so as to make ourselves a cause of glory and
4
praise to Him already here on earth.
3
ß2 As we live united with Jesus in prayer and consecrated to
him through vowed life, God the Father will fill us with His
merciful love which is the gift of His Spirit. 6
7
ß3 The spiritual power of Godís merciful love bestowed on
us owing to our living in the Congregation of St. Joseph will
particularly endow us with an obligation and ability to carry
out the redemptive task of sharing that love with one another
as well as conveying that love to the whole world - especially
to the orphaned and supportless - so as to unify ourselves
and the world to the Father through Jesus.
