CHAPTER I
OUR RELIGIOUS CALL
ìHe in love chose us in Christ before the creation of the world to be
holy and blameless in his sight. (Eph. 1:4)
Our Call in Jesus Christ
1. God the Father was, in His infinite mercy, pleased to let
humans participate in His Trinitarian life. Accordingly He
willed that Jesus, the Son and the eternal Word, be born as a
human person so as to accomplish, through his life, death
and resurrection, the redemption of the human race. He
renews and sanctifies the Church, His People, by effusing
His Holy Spirit on her and the hearts of the faithful. Thus
the Church shines forth in the world as the community of
Godís People unified and sanctified in the most Holy Trinity.
2. Through baptism we are, as branches with the wine, united
1
with the Body of Christ, the Son of God, so as to be enabled
to participate in his life. The compulsion of Christís love,
effected in us by His Spirit, provides us with an irresistible
invitation to follow him. This loving invitation of God to
the Discipleship of His Son and our response to it given in
perfect love and freedom constitute, so to speak, the two
poles of Christian vocation. Indeed, it is God the Father
Himself that enables us, through His Holy Spirit, to live in
Jesus, His Son, in response to this call. 2
Our Religious Call
3. Religious call is a divine invitation to closely follow Jesus 3
by living a life of total renunciation through the observance
