The present Constitutions and Directory are doubtless a
Spirit-inspired source of light, a spiritual treasure of divine love
and an action-plan of the service of the orphaned. It is as such
given to the SJC Community and each of its members so that we
may attain religious fulfillment and happiness here and hereafter
by living in the service of Godís glory and His mercy. Praise to
God Almighty for this ineffable gift! Reverential homage to St.
Joseph, the heavenly Patron of the SJC! Thanks to the revered
Poothathil Thommiachan, our Founding Father!
The spontaneous exclamation to spring forth from each SJC
sister, as she takes the book of these Constitutions and reads it
meditatively, should be the same as that which erupted from the
heart of St. Francis of Asissi, as he heard the law of the Gospel read
and expounded: ìThis is what I had ever longed for! This is what I
had till date sought for!! This is what I have resolved to put into
practice with my entire heart in the days to come!!!î (1 Celano,22).
We are to follow Jesus who said that his food was to do the
will of God (Jn.4:34). As for us, these renewed Constitutions and
Directory, which have been approved for us, are, so to speak, the
spiritual manna that offers and reveals the will of God to us. We
have to assimilate our present Constitutions and Directory each
day more and more, individually and collectively, with further
reflection and study. On these two Rules of life systematic classes,
seminars, renewal programmes, charism retreats etc. should be
properly conducted, in which the members are to participate
diligently, so that we may enter more deeply and steadily into the
spiritual, theological and religious depths of them. It is in the light
of these Constitutions and Directory and in accordance with the
directions given by them that we are to live and strengthen all the
aspects of our consecrated life such as our life of prayer, vowed
life, community life, apostolic life, religious formation and
