life and discipline in accordance with the charism of our
Community and apostolate of the service of the orphaned that we,
the SJC Community, which is called to be the proclaimers of Godís
glory and dispensers of the divine mercy, are ever to grow in the
Knananite Community, in the Church, nay, in the whole world.
Short of these two, no matter whatever we may possess, our
vocation to the St. Josephís religious fraternity shall not become
for us either a blessing or a gift or a treasure.
The second Vatican Council has exhorted that each religious
community should revert to its original charism so as to promote
and enhance it according to the needs of the present-day world.
The history of our Congregation published in 2003 under the title
ìThe Way of our Fatherî (Pithrupatham) was, indeed, the fruit of
the long and prayerful study and effort we had made towards that
goal. Through it we could create in our members a deep insight
and awareness regarding our foundational charism which includes
a blending of the spiritual patrimony of our Founding Father and
the religious charism of our first community. Following the writing
of the history, the subsequent General Synaxes as well as the
members of our Community suggested that a renewed version of
our Constitutions should be prepared that would reveal and reflect
in a clearer and more inspiring manner the foundational charism
entrusted to us by our saintly Founding Father as well as the first
group of our Mothers, who were models to us in religious living.
In the light of it as well as in conformity with the directives
of the above-mentioned General Synaxes a new text of the
Constitution and Directory was prepared which was given final
shape in the General Synaxis of 2007. It is this text of the
Constitution and Directory that we are now given for our
observance by the Archbishop of our Diocese, Mar Mathew
Moolakkatt, with his approval.
