Canonical Hours
57 The glorification of God accomplished by Jesus in the
Sacrament of the Eucharist is being continued in the Church,
His mystical body, through the prayer of the canonical hours.
The prayer of the Divine Office which we make together with
the Church helps us to sanctify each moment of the day, so as
to keep us holy before God, as well as to maintain us as a
community constantly engaged in praising and glorifying
God so that the mercy of God may be effused on us without
21
intermission. Each day we devoutly recite in common the
22
canonical hours according to the periods of the liturgical year.
Life of Meditation
58 In meditation we engage ourselves in making a loving
conversation with Jesus, sitting close to him and listening
23
to him personally. Thereby we become more and more
conformed to Jesus so that he can, in the course of time,
transform us into apt proclaimers of divine praise and glory
and communicators of divine mercy, together with him. This
is the grace and charism each SJC Sister has to acquire
through the mysticism of meditation (Dhyanayogam).
59 In meditation we should be keen on keeping our will, mind
and heart concentrated on that single point or goal who is
Jesus. A meditative mystic (dhyanayogi) should on no counts
let himself/herself be separated from Jesus so as to be turned,
in mind, will or heart, either to himself or the things of the
24
world. The SJC sisters should invariably keep their mind,
will and heart so concentrated on Jesus, the embodiment of
divine praise and mercy, that they become capable of praising
God and experiencing His merciful love in all events of life
and communicating that love to others in the form of service.
To such persons, whose mind and heart remain ever absorbed
in Jesus, God will give the gift of unifying contemplation,
25
and reveal to them, through the Spirit, His inner, hidden
