CHAPTER III
LIFE OF PRAYER
ìAnd foreigners who bind themselves to the LORD to min-
ister to him, to love the name of the LORD, and to be his servants,
all who keep the Sabbath without desecrating it and who hold fast
to my covenantó these I will bring to my holy mountain and give
them joy in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacri-
fices will be accepted on my altar; for my house will be called a
house of prayer for all nations.î (Is. 56:6-7)
A Community Called to Prayer
47 It is Jesus who has called us together into the community of
St. Joseph so that we may be with him and be sent for the

apostolate of mercy. If we are to give a clear and perfect
response to this call of Jesus, the SJC should, above all else,
be a community of love living with Jesus in prayer.
48 The essence of prayer lies in our sitting at the feet of Jesus

like Mary, listening to his words attentively and responding
to them lovingly. Thereby we are enabled to procure glory
to God by totally consecrating ourselves to Him and to
transform ourselves, in accord with His will, into a stream
of merciful love of Jesus to the children of God, especially
to those who are orphaned and abandoned among them. Thus,
through our life of prayer we realize and actualize the mission
assigned to the SJC by her Founding Father that we are to
be the ìproclaimers of Godís glory and the communicators
of His mercy. î
