Novitiate House
106 The novitiate is to be conducted in the particular house
designated for that purpose. It belongs to the Superior
General, with the consent of her Council, to erect the
Novitiate House or to change it, permanently or temporarily,
to some other house. 22
Admission to the Novitiate
107 The right of giving admission to the novitiate belongs to the
Superior General in consultation with her Council.
The following are invalidly admitted to the novitiate:
108 i. One who has not completed the seventeenth year of age;
ii. Non-Catholics;
iii. One who has received canonical punishment;
iv. One having the probability of receiving grave punishment
for a committed crime;
v. One who enters the Institute through force, fear or deceit,
or is induced by a superior in the same way;
vi. A spouse while the marriage lasts;
vii.One who has taken the profession of vows in another
Religious Institute, without legitimate transfer from it. 23
The following are illicitly admitted to the Novitiate:
109 i. Those who are led with improper motives. 24
ii. Those who are bound to take care of their parents or
guardians remaining in grave need. 25
110 Before entering the Novitiate, the candidates shall have
completed the pre-novitiate training as specified in our rules.
In some particular circumstance, the Superior General with
the consent of her Council may, without prejudice to CCEO
449, dispense a candidate from the regulations regarding the
pre-novitiate training.
