ß2 The formators shall be, above all, persons of deep union
with God, habit of prayer, love for the community, awareness
of Godís people and love for the poor. Holiness, prudence,
love for the community, maturity, meekness are absolutely
necessary for the formators. The success of formation
depends on the activity of the formators to lead the candidate
to the service of God, Community and people with love and
patience, discerning the background, personal characteristics
of each candidate as well as the movements of the Holy Spirit
in each of them. As a result of this, the candidates would
grow as persons with love of God and Gospel-orientation so
that Godís Holy Spirit can effectively work in them; as
persons with an interest for religious discipline and sisterly
love so that they are made members useful for the
community; as persons with a spirit of sacrifice and mercy
so that they are made apt instruments of the service of Godís
people.
ß3 The community is itself a fundamental factor that exerts
deepest influence in religious formation. When the candidate
lives in a community which assigns utmost primacy and
importance to prayer, fraternity, service of the people and
the apostolate of merciful love, the above-mentioned
religious ideals will naturally get ingrained in her conscious
and unconscious mind and the natural disposition to live
accordingly will get rooted in her.
ß4 The responsibility for religious formation lies on the
Superior General. Steps are to be taken carefully so that, in
accordance with the directives of the General Synaxis, in
consultation with the General Council and with the help of
the Formation Council, the formation programme and the
syllabus of study are given shape so that the entire formation
process be made effective and up-to-date.
