CHENTHOTTAM FAMILY

Origin of Mutholath Family is from Chenthottathil Family in Cherpunkal, Kottyam District, Kerala State,
India. Back history of Chenthottam Family is currently unknown.

The house of Chethottathil family was behind the current Samaritan Center at Cherpunkal. It was near
Meeachil river and in between Meeachil river and Chakaniam thodu which is flowing to Meenachil reiver.
The early settlers in Kerala used to construct houses and churches near the banks of rivers because motor vehi-
cles were not available at that time and the main means of transportation was by man driven boats.

The old house of Chenthottam family is no more in existence. Chenthottam was mentioned in the old gov-
ernment records.

An ancestor, Mr. Thomman (Thomas) of Chenthottathil family had two sons, Kuriako and Kurian. Whether
he had any daughters is not known. Kuriako lived in Kizhakke-varikattu (East-varikattu) and Kurian lived in
Padinjare-varikattu (West-varikattu) property. Both the sons of Thomman Chenthottathyil might have moved
from near the Meenachil river to the varikattu property because of the Ettumanoor Pala road that was passing
the side of this property. Transpiration through river might have given way to transporation by road. Kizhakke
-varikattu property is now owned by M.C. Chacko Mutholath and Padinjare varikattu is now owned by
Poovathumkal Late Appachan's children.

Kuriako Kizhakkevarikatt, son of Thomman Chenthottathil, had two sons: Kunjamman who lived in
Madathil property and Chandy who lived in Kizhakkearikattu property. Kunjamman had married again after
the death of his first wife.

Kurain Padinjarevarikatt, son of Thomman Chenthottathil had four sons: Kuriako who lived in Mutholath
property. Other sons lived in Padinjarevarikattu, Moozhayil and Neduvelil properties. The following is a chart
