and trained to come forward for the social and cultural leadership of the
community and society. 126 Structures have to be put in place for the
empowerment of women.
7. Ignorance of the community: In order to love and be faithful
to the community, the new generation, especially those born and brought up
in foreign countries, are invited to study systematically the origin and
history of the community. For that, further serious studies and researches on
the past, present and future possibilities of this community will need to be
provided. 127 A deep study of the ancient songs is a particular
recommendation.
8. False sense of superiority and false sense of uniqueness: This
community holds unique practices and traditions. This uniqueness is not
meant to promote a sense of superiority or a spirit of boastfulness about the
Knānāya history and culture. The community identity, rich family traditions
and culture is an invitation to a special responsibility to serve life in a better
way and to witness the Christian faith. This responsibility is called
“Knānāya responsibility”.
4.3.4 The Holy Family as the Model
The Holy Family is the role model for all families of all times. In
considering the duty to become a Sanctuary of Life, Knānite families can
learn from the Family of Nazareth. Each member of the family can
contribute to an atmosphere in the family that helps all to find peace, love,
mutual respect and self-confidence. This truth is repeated in the Letter to
Families by Pope John Paul II: “They (Joseph and Mary) became the ‘first
models’ of that ‘fairest love’ which the Church continually implores for
young people, husbands and wives and families”. 128 The Holy Family of
Nazareth manifested great serenity amidst many difficulties. And it was
inserted, like any other family, into the surroundings of its social situation.
Each member of the Holy Family contributed generously to the make-up of
the home.
Pope John Paul II also invited the members of the family to look at
the Holy Family and learn from it, to see how the daily obligations in the
