PADINJARE VARIKATT FAMILY
Padinjare (western) varikattu is one of the two main branches of Chenthottathil family. When KURIAN, the
second son of Mr. Thomman Chenthottathil started living in the western portion of Varikattu property, Kurian
and his descendants came under Padinjare-varikattu branch. The other main branch was Kizhakke (eastern)
varikattu Kuriakko and his descendents who lived in the eastern part of the Varikattu property.
Padinjare Varikattu KURIAN had four sons. They and their children lived in Mutholath, Padinjare Varikattu,
Moozhail, and Neduvelil properties originating those family names. The descendents of these families are
mostly in Cherpunkal. Some are in Malabar and United States.
1. KURIAKO son of KURIAN MUTHOLATH
Kuriako, born in 1818 as son of Kurian Thomman Padijarevarikatt, is the originator of Mutholath family by
settling in Mutholath property. His eldest son Kunjukurian married from Vattapparambel family and moved
to Kualappurath and later to Aikkanamadathil. The other son Chacko Kuriako continued to live with his par-
ents in Mutholath family. This website is mostly focusing on Chacko Kuriako Mutholath and his descendents.
2. PADINJARE VARIKATTU KURUVILLA
The second son of Kurian Thomman Padinjare varikattu was Kuruvilla. He continued to live in Padinjare-
varikattu property keeping up the same family name. His son Mathai Kuruvilla married Mariam from Pun-
nathura Thekkanattu family.
3. MOOZHAYIL
The third son of Kurian Thomman Padinjare varikattu (name unknown at present) had settled in Moozhayil
property near Meenachil river. He had three sons: Kochikka Moozhayil, Kochettu Moozhayil, and Chackthu
Moozhayil. The details of Moozhayil family are given in another page.
4. NEDUVELIL
The details of Neduvelil branch derived from the fourth son of Kurian Thomman Padinjarevarikattu is not
available at present to the webmaster.
